Three sisters in their twenties/thirties come home to their small college town when their mother is going through chemo. Their Dad is an English professor and they are always speaking by quoting Shakespeare. Good read.

Courtney, Jack, Jenni and I went to the Greenhouse Tavern on E.4th last night before going to a concert at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is the third time we have been here and again had a great meal. We sat outside as it was a beautiful evening and it’s always fun to watch the people walking around E. 4th. We split three appetizers: chicken wings, local green beans with tomatoes and whipped feta and a fresh peach that came with an agradolce sauce and bacon. They were all superb. We always have the wings and they are the best, most unique wings anywhere. The peach was also perfect and a fun new combination. For seconds I had a small plate of pasta carbonara with fresh corn, Courtney had a salad of endive and blue cheese, Jack had a strip steak with pomme frites and Jenni had a pasta called roasted pepper cacciatore. Again, all were excellent but Jenni’s pasta won the prize for sure. Perfect little pasta nuggets, not sure what the shape was called, with tomotaoes, peppers, fennell and other stuff. MMMM.
EatOnEdgecliff Rating: A all the way! (Don’t forget to get the chicken wings)

A brother and sister in deep rural Georgia leave home, the brother to Korean War, the sister to various jobs ending as a victim of medical experimentation. The war damaged son rescues his sister and they end up back home in their small town. Short, interesting, well written novel.
Set in the mid 1980’s an 11 year old girl’s uncle is dying from AIDS. After his death she meets his lover and learns more about herself, her uncle and her family. Excellent book. Highly recommend.

Set in 1915ish England, a man moves into a large manor house as the young son’s tutor and schemes and sleeps with everyone. Second half of book has him traveling to south Africa. Awful, trashy book. Not sure why I kept reading it.

An 11 year old boy sails from Sri Lanka to England in 1950’s by himself. During the many weeks long journey he meets a cast of charachters and gets into all sorts of 11 year old trouble. The book goes back and forth relating how the journey has shaped the author as a man. By the Author of The English Patient. An enjoyable read.

Interesting novel set during different times of the Balkan wars. The main charachters are a young woman physician and her father but there are numerous side stories involving the man who never dies and the Tiger’s wife that I liked best. I didn’t like the end very much, but enjoyed the book overall.
